What Exactly is Meant by Facing of a Home?

Facing of a house means the direction in which the main entrance of your home lies. This is the direction you go out towards the road in front of you. If your main entrance lies in the South direction, that is called a south-facing home.

Vastu Shastra does not favor any particular direction, nor does it diminish the importance of any particular direction. For a home facing in a particular direction to give good results or bad, it completely depends upon the entire Vastu of the house.

If we look at the areas of South Delhi and Mumbai, most of the houses there have a facing towards the South yet they are very affluent. So if your home is made according to Vastu principles, even a South facing house can give you immense good fortune and wealth.

But, then, why do people say a South-facing house is bad? This is because, if not made according to the proper principles of Vastu, it can lead to very unfavorable results as compared to a Vastu defect in the facing of other directions. A common mistake that people make is to misinterpret Southeast or Southwest facing with South facing. This happens when your home is tilted to a certain degree. Then they follow the Vastu considering it a south-facing house only and it goes fully wrong. Therefore it becomes very important to consult a good Vastu expert when you choose a south-facing house who can do proper gridding of your house according to 16 directions and 81 padas and can guide you throughout the process.

Role of your Astrology in South Facing House Selection:

While the south-facing home is not a wrong choice in general, it can give positive or negative results to people based on their birth charts also. South is a direction associated with the fire element in Vastu. The planet Mars also contains a lot of fire.
