When we check for the Vastu of a house, we first of all consider its facing. The whole Vastu plan of a house is made according to its facing.
In this blog, we will discuss the North-facing House according to Vastu Shastra. But firstly, we must understand what is meant by “North-facing house” or “facing a house in general.”
How to Check for the Facing of a House?

In essence, the facing of the house is the direction you face as you exit your house through the main door and head toward the road ahead. If your house faces north, you should face north as you stand at the front door and walk toward the road ahead. It can be checked by a compass. This is generally the case, but in a few cases, the house is tilted to some degree, and the house is not exactly a North-facing house, but it can be a Northwest or northeast-facing house, and it changes the entire calculation of the directions for the Vastu Shastra of that house. So it can either be checked if you have the knowledge of the degrees and you use the compass carefully, or you can consult a Vastu expert to know the exact directional and gridding mapping of your house.
Why is a North Facing House Considered Auspicious according to Vastu?
People frequently believe that only homes facing east, or north are lucky, whereas homes facing west or south are unlucky. However, not everyone who lives in a house facing east or north is successful, therefore according to Vastu Shastra, there is no universal facing that is considered auspicious or bad. While a lot of people in West and South facing houses are very successful. What matters is the overall orientation of the house, whether it is properly done or not according to proper Vastu rules.
Also, along with facing, there are a lot of things that need to be checked, like the surrounding environment, like there shouldn’t be a temple’s shadow on the house, there shouldn’t be big trees like Peepal and Bargad spreading their roots in walls of the house, there shouldn’t be a crematorium, etc, which makes the house truly auspicious.
But why do people say that a North-facing house is very auspicious according to Vastu? It is so because it is the direction of the deity ‘Kuber’, who is considered the ‘God of Wealth’, and this direction is believed to give a lot of wealth and growth in a career.
North facing house as per Vastu is very auspicious for some professions like financial service providers like bankers, accountants, Chartered Accountants (CA), insurance, investors, stock traders, occult consultants, media and glamour industry people, travel category people, etc.
Some rashis (zodiac signs) that get more benefitted from north facing home as per Vastu Shastra are Cancer (Kark), Vrishik (Scorpio), and Meen (Pisces).
Now let us look at the correct placements or a plan of a North-facing house as per Vastu.

As we already discussed, the facing of a house has little role in Vastu as facing in all four directions is considered good, as per Vastu. What plays a bigger role in determining the Vastu according to the facing of the house is main entrance of the house.
A house has 32 main entrances, each has its different attribute. It can face in North, South, East, or West. So, each direction has eight entrances. To ensure this gridding is correct, seek guidance from a Vastu expert. Now, we also have eight entrances for a North-facing house.

List of attributes of each of these entrances as per Vastu:
Entrance | Ruling Deity | Nature of Entrance |
N1 | Shikha | Death or illness |
N2 | Parjanya | An increase in jealousy and enemies |
N3 | Jayanta | Growth in income and the number of offspring |
N4 | Mahendra | Possession of good qualities and wealth |
N5 | Surya | Increase in income and children |
N6 | Satya | Conflict or disagreement with one’s son |
N7 | Bhrish | Pain caused by women |
N8 | Antriksh | Poverty or wealth obtained through immoral means |
So the entrances of N3, N4, and N5 are governed by Mukhya, Bhallat, and Soma and are considered the best for a north-facing home plan as per Vastu Shastra.
Only a north-facing house, as per Vastu, provides these many entrances, and therefore, Vastu fits well in a north-facing house.
